Professional Wrestling Career
Early Career (2013-2015)
Areebi wrestled on the independent circuit under the ring name Jasmin Areebi. She debuted for Toronto based Squared Circle Wrestling in January 2013.
She is also a one-time GCW Women’s Champion.
On April 13, 2015, WWE confirmed that Areebi had signed with the company. She was then assigned to their developmental territory NXT.
Her in-ring debut came at a live event, when she competed as part of a six-woman tag team match.
In October, she was given the ring name, Aliyah.
Aliyah made her televised debut on the January 13, 206, episode of NXT, when she entered a battle royal to decide the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. The match was won by Carmella.
She would then appear on the April 27 episode of NXT, where she was used as an enhancement talent, losing to Carmella.
Her next appearance was three months later, when she was defeated by NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka in a non-title match.
On the August 31, episode of NXT, Aliyah debuted a new style and theme, leaving her Arabian gimmick behind. However, this didn’t result in any immediate change of fortunes, as she embarked on a losing streak.
The streak finally came to an end on the October 26, episode of NXT, when she defeated Billie Kay, following a distraction by Liv Morgan. After the match, both Aliyah and Morgan were attacked by Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.
