Jessica McKay is a professional wrestler, currently working for WWE on their developmental territory NXT, under the ring name Billie Kay.
Before her arrival in NXT, McKay worked on the independent circuit, where she became a two-time PWWA Champion.
Jessica McKay was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. When she was ten years old, her brother introduced her to professional wrestling. She is highly talented basketball player ans attended the same high school as fellow professional wrestler, Peyton Royce.
Professional Wrestling Career
Pro Wrestling Alliance Australia (2007-2015)
On the 2nd August, 2008, McKay won the PWWA Championship for the first time by defeating Kellie Skater. She then successfully defended the championship against Tenille Tayla. She then lost the title to Penni Lane on the 22nd November.
Lane would go on to vacate the championship due to injury, which allowed McKay to win the title for a second time, when she defeated Kellie Skater, Shazza McKenzie and Sway in a fatal-4-way match on the 14th September, 2009. This time, she successfully defended her championship twice, once against KC Cassidy and once against Madison Eagles, before she eventually dropped the title to Eagles on June 11th, 2010.
In August, 2012, McKay was defeated by Evie in a match to crown the interim PWWA Champion.
Shimmer Women Athletes (2008-2015)
McKay began working for Shimmer in October, 2008. She debuted alongside Madison Eagles at Volume 21, they were known as The Pink Ladies. They were the first team eliminated in a tag team gauntlet match to determine the inaugural Shimmer Tag Team Champions. At Volume 24, McKay made her singles debut with the company, when she was defeated by Kellie Skater.
In September, 2010, at Volume 33, McKay defeated Nicole Matthews, she then went on to score a big win against Ayako Hamada and Sara Del Rey in a three-way match. She pinned Del Rey to get the victory. This led to McKay getting a shot at the Shimmer Championship against her trainer and friend Madison Eagles. The match took place at Volume 35, but McKay failed to win the championship.
On the back of her failed attempt at becoming the Shimmer Champion, McKay continued to work with Nicole Matthews. She also teamed with Tenille in an unsuccessful attempt at winning the Shimmer Tag Team Championships from The Canadian Ninjas. McKay did however, defeat The Canadian Ninjas at Volume 38, when she teamed with Serena.
McKay’s feud with Matthews came to a head when she lost a 2-out-of-3 falls match to her at Volume 39.
In March 2012, McKay, by way of victories over Mia Yim and MsChif, earned another shot at the Shimmer Championship. The match would take place at Volume 47, but once again, McKay failed to take the title, this time she lost to Cheerleader Melissa.
Other Promotions (2008-2015)
In August, 2014, during WWE’s tour of Australia, McKay received a tryout with the company. On April 13th, 2015, it was announced that McKay was a part of the new class of NXT trainees. She made her debut on the June 10th episode of NXT, when she lost to Becky Lynch. On August 7th, McKay began using the name Billie Kay.
She began performing in NXT as a babyface, but on October 21st, she worked as a heel in a loss to Asuka.
She then took a hiatus from televised competition, making her return on the June 30 episode of Smackdown, where she lost to Dana Brooke.
After making her debut on the WWE main roster, she returned to NXT television on July 27, when she defeated Santana Garrett.
She then took another hiatus from television, before returning on the September 21 episode on NXT, where she defeated Aliyah.
Over the next few weeks, an alliance was formed between Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.
