Tenille Dashwood is a professional wrestler, currently working for WWE under the ring name Emma.

Since signing with the company, she has also worked for their developmental territory NXT.

Before arriving in WWE, Dashwood worked on the independent circuit, under the ring name Tenille Tayla.

Personal Life

Dashwood cites ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Trish Stratus as being her inspirations in wrestling. She met Trish in 2002, when she was 13 and attending the WWE Global Warning Tour. She also met Dustin Rhodes in 1997.

In August 2014, it was reported that Dashwood was in a relationship with NXT wrestler William McNamee. The pair lived together in Denver, Colorado. However, in May 2015, Dashwood announced on Twitter that she had left Colorado on her own, to move to Orlando, Florida. In January 2016, she confirmed that she is dating Matthew Cardona, better known as Zack Ryder.

On the 30th June 2014, Dashwood was arrested in Hartford, Connecticut, on suspicion of shoplifting. She missed RAW that night and was released by police after she agreed to appear at Hartford Community Court. She appeared in court the following day, when her lawyer stated that she had simply forgotten to pay for an iPad case at a Walmart self-checkout machine.

The court ordered her to perform community service and attend an online course, upon completion of which, the charges would be dismissed.

Upon hearing of the incident, WWE originally released Dashwood, but they changed their decision within a matter of hours.

Professional Wrestling Career

Ring Names

Training (2003-2007)

Tenille Dashwood was originally introduced to professional wrestling at the age of eight, by her older brother Jake. From the age of 13-15, she became involved in the Australian wrestling scene and began training as a wrestler. In 2005, she made appearances for PWA Australia, using the ring name, Valentine. Her involvement became limited however, after she suffered a shoulder injury, this kept her out of the ring until she was 18.

In 2007, she re-located to Calgary, Alberta, Canada for a few months, in order to train with Lance Storm at his Storm Wrestling Academy. She would return to train with Lance Storm in 2011, when she was one the ten trainees featured on the World of Hurt reality show.

In September 2008, Dashwood was back in Australia, where she actively wrestled until February 2009. During this time, she worked for promotions such as PWA Queensland and Wrestlerock.

Shimmer Women Athletes (2009-2011)

Dashwood then moved to the United States of America, and began working for the Shimmer Women Athletes promotion. She made her debut on May 2nd, 2009, at Volume 23, when she lost to Amber O’Neal.

At Volume 25, Tenille defeated Jetta, but was attacked by The International Home Wrecking Crew after the match. This led to a match at Volume 26 between Tenille and Rain, which Rain won. The feud continued at Volume 28, when Tenille teamed with Jessie McKay in a losing effort to Rain and Jetta.

Tenille and McKay would team together again at Volume 36, when they unsuccessfully challenged The Canadian Ninjas for the Shimmer Tag Team Championships.

Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling (2009-2011)

On May 22, 2009, Dashwood debuted for Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling, using her own name. She also worked for fellow Canadian promotion, Prairie Wrestling Alliance, using the name Tenille Williams.

In her debut for ECCW, she defeated Nicole Matthews to earn a SuperGirls Championship. She would lose her championship match to defending champion, Veronika Vice.

Tenille would however, become the SuperGirls Champion on the 1st August, when she defeated Vice and Matthews in a 3-way match. She went on to hold the title until the 27th November, 2009, when she dropped the title back to Veronika Vice.

On March 19th, 2010, Tenille defeated Vice to become the ECCW Women’s champion. She defended the title against Vice, Matthews and Lylah Lodge in singles matches and then against Matthews and KC Spinelli in a 3-way match. She would eventually drop the title to Nicole Matthews in a tables match on October 26th.

Tenille received a rematch in December, but lost to Matthews.

On May 7th 2011, Tenille lost once again to Matthews, this was her final match in ECCW.

Melbourne City Wrestling (2011)

Tenille was headed to WWE and on the 9th July, 2011, she wrestled her final match in Australia before going to work for the company. She faced Shazza McKenzie for the Melbourne City Wrestling promotion. She lost the match.

Florida Championship Wrestling (2011-2012)

In March 2011, it was announced that Dashwood had signed with WWE. She was then assigned to their developmental territory, FCW. Before she reported for duty though, she decided to undergo surgery on her shoulder, to fix the problems she had been dogged with throughout her career.

In June, 2012, Dashwood re-located to Florida and began working for FCW. She made her debut on the 1st August at a live event, where she participated in a battle royal.

In August, it was revealed that her new ring-name would be Emma.

NXT (2012-2014)

WWE rebranded their FCW developmental territory into NXT. Emma made her televised debut for NXT on the 28th November, when she lost to Audrey Marie.

On the 9th January 2013, episode of NXT, Emma debuted her new character; a clumsy, kooky dancer. This gimmick change led to an upsurge in form and she piled up wins against Audrey Marie and Bayley, whilst becoming one of the more popular wrestlers on the roster.

On the June 26th episode of NXT, Emma competed in a tournament to crown the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion. She defeated Aksana and Summer Rae to advance to the final, where she would face Paige on the 24th July. She was defeated by Paige.

After this, Emma began a feud with Summer Rae, who attacked her after she defeated her in a dance-off to become the new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. During her feud with Summer Rae, Emma would joined forces with Paige.

On December 18th, Natalya challenged Emma for her number one contenders spot. Emma accepted and defeated Natalya on the 1st January, 2014 episode of NXT.

Emma would get her title match against Paige at NXT Arrival, but she once again failed to win the championship.

Paige then moved up to the WWE main roster and became the WWE Divas Champion, this led to her being stripped of the NXT Women’s Championship. Another tournament was set up to crown a new champion. Emma was defeated by Charlotte in the tournament.

Emma then followed Paige up to the WWE main roster. The pair did return to NXT however, on the June 5th episode of NXT, in order to save Bayley from an attack by The BFF’s, the trio then went on to defeat The BFF’s on June 12th.

WWE Main Roster (2014-2015)

On the 13 January, 2014, Emma made her WWE main roster debut during Monday Night RAW, when she was acknowledged as being in the crowd. She would continue to appear in the crowd throughout the month on both RAW and Smackdown, all the while tensions were rising between her and long-time rival Summer Rae.

On the February 3rd episode of RAW, Santino Marella invited Emma into the ring to participate in a dance-off against Summer Rae. The winner was chosen based on crowd reaction, with Emma coming out on top. The feud between Emma and Summer continued over the coming weeks, and the relationship between Marella and Emma became more friendly.

Emma would finally face Summer on the 24th February episode of RAW, in a match that was won by Emma. The following week on RAW, Emma and Santino teamed up to defeat Summer and Fandango, when Emma forced Summer to submit.

On the 6th April, Emma made her WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania XXX, when she competed in the Vickie Guerrero Invitational match for the WWE Divas Championship, which was won by reigning champion, AJ Lee.

The following night on RAW, Emma and Marella once again defeated Summer Rae and Fandango, when Emma forced Summer to tap-out again. This was the end of the feud between Emma and Summer.

It wasn’t the end however, of Emma and Santino’s issues with Fandango, who had replaced Summer Rae with Layla. On the April 21st episode of RAW, Emma defeated Layla via pinfall.

The end of Emma and Santino’s relationship came in July, when Marella announced his legitimate retirement from in-ring competition.

Return To NXT (2015-2016)

Emma would announce on the January 28th edition of NXT, that her time on the main roster hadn’t worked out  as she planned, and that she would be returning to NXT. The following week, she was defeated by Carmella in her return match.

She went quiet for a couple of months, before criticizing Bayley in a backstage segment, turning herself heel in the process. This led to a match between the two on the April 1st episode of NXT, which Bayley won.

Alliance With Dana Brooke

Emma continued her feud with Bayley, by distracting her during her match with Dana Brooke, this led to Brooke picking up the win and officially formed an alliance between Brooke and Emma.

At NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, Emma and Dana Brooke faced Bayley and Charlotte in a tag team match, which was won by Bayley and Charlotte. Emma would get her revenge over Bayley however, on the May 27th episode of NXT, when she forced Bayley to tap-out. After the match Emma and Brooke attacked Bayley and Charlotte.

The feud with Bayley ended in mid-July, when Bayley returned from a broken hand and defeated her.

After the feud with Bayley ended, Emma and Dana Brooke began a feud with NXT newcomer, Asuka, after they confronted her during her contract signing with NXT General Manager, William Regal. This led to a match between Dana Brooke and Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Respect, which was won by Asuka. During the match, Emma tried to interfere but was attacked by Asuka.

Not to be deterred however, Emma and Brooke continued their assault on Asuka, attacking her on the November 25th episode of NXT. This led to a match at NXT TakeOver: London, between Emma and Asuka. The match was won by Asuka, despite interference from Dana Brooke.

On the January 13, 2016, episode of NXT, Emma participated in a battle royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship, which was won by Carmella.

Return To The WWE Main Roster (2016-Present)

On the March 22 episode of Main Event, Emma, alongside Summer Rae attacked Alicia Fox and Natalya during a match between Paige and Naomi. This aligned Emma and Summer with Naomi, Tamina and Lana, with the group calling themselves Team B.A.D. & Blonde.

The following week on RAW, Emma defeated Paige in her return match. After the match Team B.A.D. and Blonde once again attacked, this time however, Eva Marie evened up the sides, causing a 10-Diva Tag Team match to be set for Wrestlemania 32.

At Wrestlemania 32, the Total Divas defeated Team B.A.D. & Blonde, after Naomi tapped-out to Brie Bella’s Yes-Lock.

Following Wrestlemania, Emma began a feud with Becky Lynch, however the angle had to be dropped when Emma sustained a back injury during a live event, that would require surgery.

Other Media

Dashwood had been a regular on WWE web series, The JBL and Cole Show, until it was cancelled in June 2015.

In September 2015, she began a YouTube cooking show, named Taste of Tenille.

Emma has also appeared in two WWE video games. Her debut was in WWE 2K15, as part of DLC and she is a main character in WWE 2K16
