This what WWE said:
WWE has suspended Joe Anoa`i (Roman Reigns) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy.
This will mean that Reigns will likely miss the upcoming Battleground PPV on July 24, where he is supposed to be in the main event for the WWE Championship against current champion Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
This isn’t guaranteed, as 30 days from today is July 21, three days before Battleground. He will however, miss all of the build up to the event, so it will be interesting to see how WWE handle the situation.
One thing we know he will definitely miss, is the upcoming WWE Draft, which is scheduled to take place on the first live Smackdown, on July 19. This won’t be a huge issue though, given that he wouldn’t need to be on TV to be drafted, and he could even be touted as a free agent, just like ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was in the previous draft.
Reigns took to Twitter to accept his punishment and own up to his mistake:
I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy. No excuses. I own it.
