They made their WWE main roster debut in July 2013.

Ring Names

The Wyatt FamilyThe Wyatt Family portray a backwoods cult; the group, in particular Bray Wyatt, has drawn comparisons to Charles Manson.

The Bray Wyatt character debuted in FCW in April 2012, he was originally associated with Eli Cottonwood. When WWE rebranded the FCW territory into NXT, Bray Wyatt debuted on the NXT roster on the 11th July, when he defeated Aiden English.

Bray Wyatt’s solo run was halted when he suffered a torn pectoral muscle, which kept him out of action. In order to remain on television, Bray Wyatt would enlist Luke Harper, as his first follower. Erick Rowan would soon follow and the faction became known as the Wyatt Family.

Harper and Rowan would then enter the tag team tournament to crown new NXT Tag Team Champions, but they were defeated by Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey in the finals.

Bray Wyatt would return to action on the 21st February, defeating Yoshi Tatsu at NXT. During this time Bray Wyatt tried to entice Bo Dallas into the Wyatt Family, but Dallas refused. This led to Bray costing Dallas a number one contender’s match for the NXT title. On the March 13th episode of NXT, Dallas defeated Wyatt, handing him his first loss on the NXT brand.

Harper and Rowan Win the NXT Tag Team Championship

On the May 2nd edition of NXT, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan won a triple threat elimination tag team match to earn a shot at the NXT Tag Team Champions. They would receive their title shot on the May 8th edition of NXT, where they defeated Adrian Neville and Bo Dallas, who was filling in for the injured Oliver Grey, to win the tag titles.

After winning the championships, the Wyatt Family would go enter a feud with Corey Graves and Kassius Ohno. This led to Bray Wyatt defeating Graves and then eliminating both Graves and Ohno from an 18-man Battle Royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Championship, although Wyatt was eventually eliminated by Adrian Neville.

On the July 17th edition of NXT, Harper and Rowan dropped the NXT Tag Team Championships to Adrian Neville and Corey Graves.

The Wyatt Family

The Wyatt Family’s creepy entrance

On the May 27th, 2013, episode of RAW, vignettes began to play to hype the debut of the Wyatt Family on the main roster. The vignettes were creepy in nature and showed the Wyatt Family’s backwoods origins, before Bray Wyatt’s voice would proclaim ‘We’re Coming!’

On the July 8th episode of RAW, the Wyatt Family made their debut by attacking Kane. The Wyatt Family would continue to systematically attack other mid-card members of the roster, such as Drew McIntrye, R-Truth, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel and Jinder Mahal, whilst sending out cryptic messages to Kane, telling him to ‘Follow the Buzzards.’

Kane challenged Bray Wyatt to a ‘Ring of Fire’ match at SummerSlam, which Wyatt accepted. The match at SummerSlam was won by Bray Wyatt, following interference from Harper and Rowan. After the match Harper and Rowan carried Kane away with them as they followed Bray out of the arena.

At Battleground, Bray Wyatt continued his impressive form by defeating Kofi Kingston.

Daniel Wyatt

Daniel Bryan as Daniel Wyatt

Following the feud with Kane, the Wyatt Family then turned their attention towards Daniel Bryan. The Wyatt Family attacked Bryan and CM Punk, which led to a tag team match at Survivor Series,  that saw Harper and Rowan lose to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

At TLC, the Wyatt Family defeated Daniel Bryan in a 3-on-1 handicap match.

All the way through the feud, Bray Wyatt had been trying to recruit Daniel Bryan and bring him into the Wyatt Family. On the final RAW of 2013, Bryan was involved in a gauntlet match, where he earned a shot at Bray Wyatt by defeating both Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. During his match with Bray however, Bryan was attacked by Rowan and Harper. This led to Bryan’s frustrations getting the better of him, and him agreeing to join the Wyatt Family.

In the coming weeks, Daniel Bryan became known as Daniel Wyatt, but his inclusion to the group hadn’t brought the success that Bray Wyatt had expected. This led to Bray punishing Bryan. Bryan didn’t take well to the punishment and attacked all Wyatt Family members, signalling that he had severed all ties with the group.

At the Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt defeated Daniel Bryan in a one-on-one match.

Feuding with John Cena and The Shield

On the January 27th episode of RAW, the Wyatt Family interfered in a match between John Cena, Sheamus and Daniel Bryan against The Shield. The Wyatt’s attacked Cena, Sheamus and Bryan, awarding them the victory over the Shield via disqualification. This led to the Wyatt Family taking on the Shield at Elimination Chamber.

The Wyatt Family defeated the Shield at Elimination Chamber and then defeated them again on the March 3rd episode of RAW.

After defeating the Shield at Elimination Chamber, the Wyatt Family became involved in the Elimination Chamber match itself, interfering and causing Cena to be eliminated from the match. The Wyatt Family then entered into a full on feud with Cena. Bray Wyatt was determined to prove that John Cena’s heroic persona was just a facade.

Cena and Bray Wyatt faced each other at Wrestlemania XXX, with John Cena defeating Wyatt and handing Bray his first loss on the main roster in singles competition.

After Wrestlemania XXX, the feud between the Wyatt Family and John Cena continued, with Bray Wyatt playing on John Cena’s fanbase, mainly the younger generation, turning them into Wyatt fans instead.  Bray Wyatt would get revenge for his Wrestlemania loss by defeating John Cena in a steel cage match at Extreme Rules.

The rubber match for the feud took place at Payback, in a last man standing match, which was eventually won by John Cena.

Chasing the Championships

After the feud with Cena was over, all members of the Wyatt Family began to become more involved in the championship picture. Harper and Rowan defeated The Usos to earn a shot at their WWE Tag Team Championships, whilst Bray Wyatt defeated Dean Ambrose to earn a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV.

Money in the Bank, saw each member of the Wyatt Family fail in their quest to pick up WWE Gold. This was compounded the following month at Battleground, when Harper and Rowan were once again defeated by the Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Feuding with Chris Jericho

On the June 30th episode of RAW, the Wyatt Family had interrupted Chris Jericho upon his return to WWE and attacked him. This led to a match between Jericho and Bray Wyatt at Battleground, which Chris Jericho won.

The feud between the Wyatt Family and Chris Jericho continued into SummerSlam, when Bray Wyatt got his revenge and defeated Jericho. The feud would come to an end on the September 8th episode of RAW, when Bray Wyatt defeated Chris Jericho in a steel cage match.

Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper did retain a form of alliance with each other, with Wyatt at one point helping Harper retain his WWE Intercontinental Championship by attacking Dean Ambrose, with whom Wyatt was currently feuding.

Harper and Rowan Re-unite

On the May 7th episode of Smackdown, after Luke Harper had defeated Fandango, Erick Rowan came out, apparently to confront Harper. Instead, Rowan attacked Fandango.

On the 11th May episode of RAW, Rowan and Harper officially re-united as a team. The duo would then enter a small feud with Fandango and Zack Ryder, which Harper and Rowan dominated for the most part.

Following this brief feud, Harper and Rowan would go on to pick up wins against Los Matadores and The Ascension and would begin to quickly climb the tag team rankings.

Unfortunately, Erick Rowan suffered an injury during a house show match that would take him out of action for 4-6 months.

Whilst Rowan began his recovery, Harper would return to singles competition.

At Battleground, during a match between Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns, a hooded man interfered on behalf of Bray Wyatt, allowing him to pick up the victory. After the match, the hooded figure was revealed to be none other than Luke Harper. Wyatt would later cut a promo saying, ‘To the world, say your prayers, lock your doors, the family has returned.’

After their re-union, Wyatt and Harper entered a feud with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, which led to a tag team match at SummerSlam, between the two teams, which was won by Reigns and Ambrose.

The following night on RAW, the two teams faced off again in a SummerSlam re-match. During the match, Braun Strowman made his WWE debut and helped Wyatt and Harper attack Reigns and Ambrose, thus joining the Wyatt Family.

All four members of the Wyatt Family entered the 2016 Royal Rumble match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. During the match, the family teamed together to eliminate Brock Lesnar from the match. This led to a scheduled feud between Lesnar and Wyatt.

The pair were scheduled to face each other at Roadblock, however, it was announced that the match would become a two-on-one handicap match, with Wyatt being partnered by Harper. This was because Wyatt had picked up a back injury.

Brock Lesnar won the match, with Bray Wyatt playing very little part in the match.

On March 21, Luke Harper suffered a serious knee injury during a dark match on RAW. An MRI revealed that he had dislocated his patella and tore his medial patellofemoral ligament, and would be out of action for around six months.

At Wrestlemania 32, The Wyatt Family, minus Harper, made a brief appearance when they confronted The Rock, leasing to an impromptu match between The Rock and Erick Rowan, which The Rock won in six-seconds.

Following Wrestlemania 32, The Wyatt Family engaged in a brief feud with The League of Nations, although the feud was cut short when Wyatt picked up a calf injury and The League of Nations were disbanded.

This eventually led to a WWE Tag Team Championship match at Battleground, which saw The New Day retain their championships.

Brand Split, Harper returns

On July 19, as a part of the 2016 WWE Draft, Wyatt and Rowan were drafted to the Smackdown Live brand, whereas, Strowman was drafted to RAW, thus ending his association with the group.

On the August 16 episode of Smackdown Live, Erick Rowan lost a singles match to Dean Ambrose. After the match, Bray Wyatt walked away from Rowan, leaving his sheep mask in the rocking chair. This seemingly ended Rowan’s association with Wyatt, however, on the September 13 episode of Smackdown Live, Rowan attacked Randy Orton on Wyatt’s behalf, seeming to signal a continuation of the alliance.

At No Mercy, Bray Wyatt faced Randy Orton. During the match, Luke Harper made his return, distracting Orton and allowing Wyatt the victory.
